About the project

As part of the Sustainability at Oper Leipzig initiative, the theatre has developed a multi-part short film series and a set of monitor graphics in collaboration with theatre videographer Sebastian Evans. The project explores how sustainability is embedded across departments – ecologically, socially, and economically – and aims to raise awareness both within the institution and beyond.

About the artists

The portraits highlight three individuals who embody Oper Leipzig’s sustainable approach in their daily work. Roxana Naumann, head stage dresser, shares how careful handling and reuse of costumes help reduce waste and extend their lifespan. Stephen Budd, once a dancer and now a stage manager, speaks about career transitions within the theatre and how retaining knowledge in-house contributes to long-term sustainability. Henning Noack, head of the make-up department, discusses the use of resource-conscious techniques and materials in his craft. Together, their stories illustrate how sustainability is not just an abstract goal, but a lived reality in the fabric of daily theatre operations.
